About Me

Igor Pereira once reflected, “If climate change is a treat for the youths’ future, mass shootings are a menace for their present.” For more than fifteen years, the multi-lingual attorney and social entrepreneur has been steadfastly tackling a number of the most significant issues facing our youth today, from climate change to gender issues to a host of other human rights issues.

Igor Luis Pereira e Silva was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, and from an early age, would prove to be a stellar student of high academic merit.

Throughout his career, he has earned multiple awards and other accolades; the oft-published former professor has the proven ability to implement policies and practices which promote safe and interactive learning environments and a culture that encourages ongoing improvement for both professors and students alike.

His legal focus tends to narrow around Business and Startup Law, Human Rights, Constitutional Law, Compliance, and Immigration Law. In his former capacities, he represented non-profit organizations in the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court and demonstrated himself as a dedicated, conscientious practitioner with extensive legal experience.

What People Say About Me

My Story

After Catholic University, Pereira followed-up with a master’s degree in Law from Rio de Janeiro State University before completing the Juris Doctorate there, as well. He would add an extension course in Intellectual Property Law from Harvard and continue honing his vast business acumen with an MBA from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul.
Pereira is currently completing his second master’s program, this time at the University of California-Berkeley. After spending a year in NYC working with nonprofits, the compliance & immigration lawyer, and activist came to Berkeley for his LLM and has since founded the human rights organization, Dignity, Deconstruction & Protection, as well.
Equipped with a strong background and skillset in research, journalism, and legal education, Pereira has trained students to professional standards, and passionately promoted public awareness around many human rights issues. As far back as he can remember, he has emphasized professionalism, analytical skills, flexibility, and mutual respect and understanding across all aspects of his career.

And, in his current capacities, he continues to demonstrate top-notch organizational skills, while being accustomed to working in fast-paced environments and cultivating positive morale in team members by consistently advocating for their success.
Throughout his extensive legal and educational career (as a professor, researcher, journalist, and attorney), he has successfully demonstrated the ability to manage team members around clearly defined agendas and in-line with overall business objectives while driving positive results across all measurable performance indicators.
He has been recognized numerously throughout his career; his hardworking, results-oriented nature has proven instrumental at numerous stops along his path, and, in the coming year, he plans on continuing his work in the US as an attorney and social entrepreneur.
He’s passionate about the role of business in society and stakeholder theory, a theory of organizational management and business ethics that accounts for several constituencies impacted by interfacing with business entities such as employees, local community members, and others.
He travels a lot and spent last year in New York City doing volunteer work for nonprofits. He is committed to becoming a global leader in his field and a champion of human rights. In fact, he still believes we can leave the world a better place for future generations, including more equality and freedom for all. For Silva, it’s more than hyperbole or some cleverly strewn together mantra; it’s a way of life. He’s interested in several other issues, as well, including autism advocacy, gender, and climate, and is a devout advocate for legal education and awareness.
Pereira is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and intermediate in German, French, and Italian, too. On any given day, you will find him challenging himself with new tasks and looking for creative and innovative ways to re-invest back into the community through entrepreneurship and a community-centric approach. He hopes to be a legal counsel for social justice, criminal rights, and human rights issues in the US in the coming year with plans on continuing to relate-back to stakeholder theory.
